My work consists of mixed media paintings ranging in subject from landscapes to abstracts. My influences come from the atmosphere around me and often mirror the environment of Northeast LA. I create a dreamy quality within my work by painting in layers that mimic vague ideas or partially told stories. This leaves room for interpretation by the viewer to connect what they see in my work to their own life experiences. I feel this ‘weathered’ texture to my work directly relates to my view of life: we should get better with age and find beauty where it is often overlooked.
